Welcome to Camp Alleghany’s staff page! We thank you for your interest in working as a Ghany Counselor. Our counselors are women ages 18 and older, many of whom attended Alleghany as campers themselves. Alleghany encourages the return of alumnae year after year to help keep camp traditions and friendships strong. We also encourage new and international applicants as a way to diversify our camp community. All staff members must apply, interview, and submit to a background check annually. Additionally, we expect all our counselors to adhere to the Honor Code, the No Gossip Policy, and the Counselor Code of Conduct while employed by Alleghany. Below you will find the application as well as useful information to help you decide which position at Alleghany will best fit your talents and personality. We hope to see you this summer!

Please click on the appropriate application (only 1 that applies to you), and complete the online form. You will then receive an email with the second half of the application. Please fill it out on your computer or print it out and fill it out by hand. If you choose to fill it out by hand, please make a copy of it before you send it in! Send completed applications by e-mail to Info@campalleghany.com or by mail to P.O. Box 2515, Staunton, VA 24402.
*Your application will not be complete until the second half has been sent in! Sam Dawson, Director, and Elizabeth Shreckhise, Assistant Director, will review all applications and contact you directly to set up an interview. You will be notified about employment shortly after you have interviewed with us.

Counselor Application
This is for anyone seeking a general counseling position or a Department Head or Unit Head position. The Early Application deadline is November 1st, and the regular application deadline is February 1st. Applicants will be contacted to set up an interview shortly after their application has been submitted, and notification of hire will be within one month of applying.

Head Counselor Application
This application is for women 21 years of age or older with significant leadership experience at Camp Alleghany. The deadline is January 1st. Applicants will be contacted to set up an interview shortly after their application has been submitted, and notification of hire will be within the month of February.
